Course Title

GDIT 703: Foundations of Instructional Technology

Course Description

This course is designed as an introduction to the instructional technologies, ethics, and the current research in the field of Instructional Technology. Students are asked to identify current research issues, analyze research papers and peer-review, discuss classroom applications of technologies, and effectively and efficiently use instructional technologies.

Project Description

This assignment was for us to share our own story, and what we wanted to in the future for education. We were assigned to use our digital storytelling skills, and to use the software iMovie for Macintosh. I developed a video that reviewed what my professional dream was, and how I want to impact education in my future career.

Reflection

I enjoy making videos, so I very much enjoyed making this one, as it gave me an opportunity to tell my story. I was able to showcase my previous studies, which were in moviemaking and television. I had many excellent videos and photographs to share. I felt lucky that I have these skills, because even though I am moving into education, visual communication skills are very helpful. My classmates had a very positive response to my videos.

I am pleased I can use my videomaking skills to inspire and facilitate a shared vision of purposeful change in education among stakeholders like my colleagues. My video used different digital-age resources to improve visual communication, and I feel it imparted my vision well. My video showcased my inspiration to help rural Chinese students have improved education and technology, and I hope to inspire among my colleagues this vision to appropriate digital-age resources to issues like education in rural China to help these students meet or exceed learning goals, and improve educational performance.
